The leathery olive green compound foliage resemble spined holly leaves. Long panicles of fragrant yellow flowers bloom in spring and are followed by clusters waxy blue black berries that resemble grapes. Best in part sun and moist well drained acidic soil. Salt and drought tolerant. Note: Considered invasive in the southeast. Type: Shrub Origins: Western China
